Wedding Photography at Ramside Hall, Durham

Award-Winning Wedding Photography at One of Durham's Finest Wedding Venues

If you're planning your wedding at Ramside Hall near Durham, you've chosen one of the North East's most established and impressive wedding venues.

Set amongst beautiful grounds just outside Durham City, Ramside Hall offers an incredible combination of elegant interiors, beautiful gardens and a choice of distinctive spaces for your ceremony and celebrations.

It's a venue that provides plenty of variety for wedding photography, from the character and grandeur of the hotel itself to the surrounding grounds and gardens.

I've had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at Ramside Hall and really enjoyed working there.

With 35 years of wedding photography experience, three North East Wedding Photographer of the Year awards and a Licentiate qualification from the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, I bring experience, preparation and a relaxed approach to every wedding I photograph.

My style combines natural, emotional storytelling with beautifully crafted portraits, creating photographs that genuinely reflect your wedding day.

A Fantastic Venue to Photograph

Ramside Hall offers a fantastic variety of opportunities for wedding photography.

The elegant interiors provide beautiful settings for photographs throughout the day, while the extensive grounds give us the opportunity to get outside and create relaxed portraits away from the main celebrations.

One of the things I particularly like about a venue such as Ramside Hall is the variety. Your photographs don't all have to look the same.

We can make use of the architecture, interiors, gardens and surrounding areas to create a wedding gallery with plenty of character and variety.

And because everything is centred around one venue, you can spend your day enjoying yourselves and celebrating with your family and friends rather than travelling between locations.

Natural Moments. Beautiful Portraits.

Some of my favourite wedding photographs aren't planned at all.

They're the nerves before the ceremony, the laughter between friends, the reactions during the speeches and those wonderfully unpredictable moments that happen when everyone simply relaxes and enjoys themselves.

After 35 years of photographing weddings, I've learned when to offer direction and when simply to step back and let the moment happen.

That's why my photography combines natural storytelling with beautifully crafted portraits.

The result is a collection of photographs that doesn't just show what your wedding looked like.

It reminds you how it felt.

A Real Wedding at Ramside Hall

Sara & Euan

Sara and Euan's wedding gave me the opportunity to photograph their preparations and celebrations at Ramside Hall as part of a wonderful wedding day that also included The Story in Durham.

My day began at Ramside Hall, where Sara was getting ready with her bridesmaids. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed, with plenty of laughter and excitement as the morning preparations continued.

There was time for some relaxed photographs of Sara with her bridesmaids and family, before I spent a little time with Euan and captured some portraits in the hotel's beautiful bar area.

From there, we headed to The Story in Durham for the ceremony before returning to Ramside Hall for the celebrations.

Back at Ramside, the atmosphere had completely changed. The formalities were behind everyone and it was time for family and friends to relax, enjoy the celebrations and make the most of the afternoon.

Later in the day, Sara and Euan and I took some time to create their bride and groom portraits around the venue. We'd already identified a few locations earlier in the day, which meant we could create a beautiful set of photographs without taking them away from their guests for too long.

Even with a little light rain, we captured everything we'd planned.

It was a fantastic day and a great example of how I approach wedding photography at Ramside Hall – using the venue and its surroundings to create beautiful portraits while allowing the day itself to unfold naturally.

Weddings Are About People

Ramside Hall provides a wonderful backdrop, but ultimately your wedding photographs are about you and the people sharing the day with you.

Parents. Grandparents. Children. Friends.

The laughter, tears, nerves and completely unexpected moments are what make every wedding different.

My approach allows those moments to happen naturally while still creating the beautiful portraits you'll want to display in your home for years to come.

You enjoy your wedding. I'll concentrate on telling its story.
