Why I’m Putting My Wedding Photography Prices Up
I’ve made a decision about the future of my wedding photography business.
I’m putting my prices up.
That might sound like a strange thing to announce when the wedding photography market is incredibly competitive, but actually, that is precisely why I’m doing it.
For too long, I’ve watched photographers competing to see who can offer the cheapest full-day wedding package. Prices seem to be getting lower and lower, with some people offering an entire day’s photography for amounts that simply don’t reflect the work, experience, equipment, editing time and responsibility involved.
I realised something important.
Trying to compete with ridiculously low prices is crazy.
There will always be somebody prepared to photograph a wedding for less. If I reduce my prices to compete with them, somebody else will simply go lower again. That becomes a race to the bottom, and it is a race I have absolutely no interest in winning.
Instead, I want to compete on something completely different.
